A DEACON'S LIFE
Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church
The activities of the Deacons have been changing over the past few years to include more emphasis on mission in our congregation, community and nation. The following ministries are currently in place under the Board of Deacons:
Prayer List - Prayer concerns of the congregation, community, and the world are compiled and updated and made available for all church members.
Remembrance List - A list of our homebound members is updated with addresses, phone numbers and birthdays. Each deacon has a member they visit and send correspondence to.
Birthday Card Ministry - All church members get a birthday greeting. Sympathy & Get Well Card Ministry - Sending out our thoughts and prayers when needed.
Food For Families - The first offering each month is must be coordinated and checks and gift certificates go out to families in need in our church and community.
Flowers - Chancel, Easter and Christmas flowers are coordinated.
Visit the Visitor - First time visitors receive a mug filled with goodies and information about the church to their home along with a short visit explaining church programs and welcoming them back.
Greeters - Schedule greeters for the 8:45 & the 11:00 services, and holidays as needed. Inform church office for placement in bulletin.
Ushers - Provide ushers for the 8:45 & 11:00 services and holidays as needed.
Deacon Dinners - Deliver meals to those who are bereaved, have a new baby, or are ill.
We have monthly meetings to report on the progress of all of these ministries and also to offer up any ideas on new ways to reach out to our church and community. We are always ready and willing to do any good works for the Lord and open to any suggestions from congregation.
The Board of Deacons are looking members of the congregation who would like to be a small part of the ministry within the church but are not able to commit to serving on a board. Here are a few ways you can participate:

- Send birthday cards or,sympathy and get well cards for a month.
- Make phone calls to schedule Greeters.
- Volunteer to help with our blood drives.
- Assist Ushers with the collection of the offering.
- Join in when we organize the Trash-N-treasure Sale.
If any church member who would like to assist or has any other suggestions to enhance the ministry of our church, community or nation, please contact Ray Kerr, President of the Board of Deacons at 724-224-9610 or see any of the Deacons with your ideas. If we all work together, we can promote unity and harmony in the body of Christ!
